Porcelain Laminate Veneer Therapy Ultra - thin veneer options using no - prep or partial - prep philosophy

چکیده

During the past 25 years, there has been a lot of discussion regarding the preparation techniques used for porcelain veneers. Calamia and other early pioneers looked at veneers as a non-invasive, additive process and worked primarily with a nopreparation concept. Early on it was found that a little enamel preparation could help to enhance the esthetic outcome and improve the marginal fit. Later, in the mid to late 1990s, pressed ceramic was introduced as a material option. Its excellent esthetics, strength and easier fabrication process paved the way for an industry shift away from stacked porcelain to the pressed product. However, the physical demands of proper pressed-ceramic fabrication required an increased amount of tooth reduction (0.8 to 1.0 mm compared to 0.5 mm for stacked porcelain) to make room for the required thickness of pressed ceramics. Porcelain veneer therapy with pressed ceramics became a more aggressive treatment.

The case for moderate "guided prep" indirect porcelain veneers in the anterior dentition. The pendulum of porcelain veneer preparations: from almost no-prep to over-prep to no-prep.

In a historical pendulum of porcelain veneer preparation concepts, an oversimplified version of the so-called "no prep" approaches has resurfaced. A case from the USC student clinics is presented, which could be easily considered by many as a "no prep" veneer case. Moderate tooth preparations guided by natural morphology were used instead with a great benefit on the final outcome. While it is w...

Influence of buccal cusp reduction when using porcelain laminate veneers in premolars. A comparative study using 3-D finite element analysis.

OBJECTIVES Based on a maxillary premolar restored with laminate veneer and using the 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) and μCT data, the aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of different types of buccal cusp reduction on the stress distribution in the porcelain laminate veneer and in the resin luting cement layer. METHODS Two 3-D FEA models (M) of a maxillary premolar were built fr...

Porcelain laminate veneer on a highly discoloured tooth: a case report.

Esthetic treatment of a single darkened tooth represents a great challenge to the dental practitioner. The properties of dental ceramic-colour stability, mechanical strength, clinical longevity, esthetic appearance and compatibility with periodontal tissues-make this material a good choice for such treatment. We present a case of restoration of a single, highly darkened anterior tooth with a fe...

Porcelain laminate veneer restorations bonded with a three-liquid silane bonding agent and a dual-activated luting composite.

This clinical report describes the fabrication and bonding of porcelain laminate veneer restorations in a patient with anterior open spaces. Laminate veneer restorations made of feldspathic porcelain were etched with 5% hydrofluoric acid, rinsed under tap water, ultrasonically cleaned with methanol, and primed with a chemically activated three-liquid silane bonding agent (Clearfil Porcelain Bon...

Effect of Accelerated Aging on the Color Stability of Light-cured Res-in Cement and Flowable Composite Through Porcelain Laminate Veneer

Background and Aim: Changing the color of resin luting cements could affect the aesthetic appearance of thin porcelain veneer. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of artificially accelerated aging on color stability of light-cured resin cement and flowable composite as a luting agent through the porcelain veneer. Materials and Methods: This experimental study was carried ...
